Vineyard and Winery Staff

Dedicated and Indispensable

picture of Amy, Internet Sales and Electronic Marketing
Amy
Following a passion for local food and wine and an enjoyment of all things digital, Amy joined the Red Tail Ridge team at the close of the 2011 season. She'll be busy assisting with Internet sales and electronic marketing and will also be working with Nancy in the management of the winery's social networks and Wine Club.

When Amy's not deep in the world wide web she's often found reading or making art with her three daughters, walking their family dog, snuggling with their two kitties or watching the four pet fish swim laps.

picture of Gina, Vineyard Assistant
Gina
Gina came to Red Tail Ridge in the Spring of 2010 as a vineyard assistant with ambitions of someday working with the winemaker, Nancy. She will complete an associate's degree in viticulture and enology in the Spring of 2012. Her first degree was in the field of economics; however, her love of the outdoors and the wine industry gave her the courage to change careers.

“Working at a winery with green and sustainability standards is a great feeling” according to Gina. The diversity of being in the vineyard one day and the winery the next keeps her challenged which she loves.

Jim
From Native to Vinifera grape varieties, Jim has been there, seen it, trimmed it. Current resident of Penn Yan, NY he keeps a busy schedule, but can usually be found outdoors. When he's not spending time with his wife Karen and two children—Jess and Tim; his “home away from home” is our vineyard.

Hidden somewhere along a row of vines, Jim can usually be found with a headset radio, a smile and big wave which comes complete with one of his ever present witty jokes. For Jim, The Finger Lakes region is a place he's happy and completely content to call home.

picture of Scooter the Dog
Scooter—Pond Inspector and Mud Puddle Assessment
Scooter is an eight year old yellow Labrador Retriever. He has really mellowed out as he has gotten older; but he is still most happy when he is wet. He is an avid pond swimmer; in fact, its very hard to keep him out of the pond.

Scooty really doesn't need an excuse to go in (like retrieving a stick, etc)--he just likes to swim for the heck of it. His favorite swimming stroke is the “dog” paddle in a figure 8 pattern. He'd be a great mascot for water ballet.
picture of Shazzam the Dog

Shazzam—Winemaker Management
Shazzam is a five year old German Shepherd. She is originally from Kentucky; we adopted her when she was about 8 weeks of age. Shazzam has A LOT of energy. Shazzam especially likes to play hide and seek where she gets to look for hiding people.

She is also a little obsessive about retrieving. So if you ever visit, don't be surprised if she deposits a stick, rock and/or toy at your feet. Be forewarned, once you start throwing for her---she will keep bringing it back. She is a little relentless, if you know what I mean.
